From padding made from wildflowers to tracksuits dyed from fruit waste and even denim made from nettles, a genuinely eco-friendly fashion brand that cares about the global environment has arrived in Korea!

Shinsegae International signed an exclusive domestic distribution contract with the global eco-friendly brand PANGAIA this month. It will start sales through its digital platform, S.I.VILLAGE, from the 20th of this month.

PANGAIA is a brand launched in the UK in 2018, and it mainly focuses on making products that lead to a positive future for the earth's environment with scientists, engineers, and designers from around the world. The brand name refers to PAN, all races and continents in Greek, and Gaia, the mother of the earth in Greek mythology. The brand introduction describes itself as a ‘material science company’ whose mission is to protect the environment.

All of PANGAIA's products are manufactured through scientific technology and research and development, and each product is created to solve environmental problems in the industry. It focuses on developing natural materials that can replace animal and petroleum-based synthetic materials, the leading cause of environmental pollution. It also works hard to complete a sustainable circulation system and minimize resource consumption through regeneration and recycling.

For example, PANGAIA's grape leather sneakers are made of materials developed to replace animal leather or synthetic chemical leather (PVC, etc.). They were designed to expand the uses of grapes and create a more circular wine production system by recycling discarded grape skins, stems, and seeds generated in the winemaking industry.

Also, MiDori® bioWick, a moisture-absorbing technology used in PANGAIA's activewear for moisture absorption and quick drying, is a 100% bio-based moisture absorbent made with microalgae instead of chemical absorbents derived from fossil fuel commonly used on the market. It features outstanding durability and quick-drying properties while not polluting the environment or irritating the skin.

In addition, flower down padding filler, mainly made from wildflowers to replace animal filler, natural food dye made from waste ingredients processed by food companies and farms such as blueberries, matcha, and rooibos instead of chemical dyes, and natural vegetable peppermint oil finishing materials instead of metal (silver) and chemically treated substances used for antibacterial and deodorizing effects are also the brand's representative innovative materials.

In addition to protecting the environment in the production process, PANGAIA focuses on design and durability to ensure that high-quality, well-fitting products can be used for a long time instead of making products that are quickly consumed due to trends. It also focuses on biodegradation, composting, and recycling so that products can return to nature as much as possible after disposal.

PANGAIA's righteous beliefs and philosophy are receiving great responses from celebrities worldwide. They are well known through Justin Bieber, Harry Styles, Jennifer Lopez, and the Kardashian sisters, who prefer the brand.

With its launch, PANGAIA showcases globally popular products, including loungewear, such as 365 hoodies, track pants, and sweatshirts; activewear, such as sports bra tops and leggings; outerwear, such as padding and denim jackets; and fashion accessories, such as tote bags and backpacks. Each product has a sentence written about the materials used and the purpose for which it was produced, which is now a unique design detail of PANGAIA.

The price range of representative products is around 90,000 won for t-shirts, about 145,000 won for leggings, and about 250,000 won for hoodies. It is characterized by the fact that anyone can wear it easily and comfortably, regardless of gender and age.

Celebrating the brand launch, PANGAIA will operate a pop-up store at BOONTHESHOP Cheongdam Case Study from the 17th to the 29th. From the 20th, it will be available through Shinsegae International's digital platform, S.I.VILLAGE, and is also considering opening a standalone shop in major department stores nationwide.

An official from Shinsegae International said, “As the tastes of domestic consumers are segmented and value consumption, which emphasizes ethics and the environment, is spreading, we have decided to introduce PANGAIA, which is considered the most eco-friendly brand in the world,” and added, “We will continue to quickly secure differentiated brands in the future to gain unrivaled competitiveness in the imported fashion business.”
