[Shinsegae International] French luxury Courrèges Opened its first exclusive store in Korea

Luxury brand, which is drawing a big attention in the global fashion market, will be introduced in Korea.
On the 14th, Shinsegae International announced that it had signed a distribution contract with French luxury fashion house Courrèges and would start full-fledged business from the second half of this year. This is the first Courrèges official store in Korea.
Starting with Courrèges, Shinsegae International plans to strengthen overseas fashion business by securing at least four new imported fashion brands this year alone.
Courrèges is a time-honored fashion house founded in 1961 by designer André Courrèges in Paris, France. André revolutionized the fashion with unconventional and innovative designs beyond imagination at the time when Haute Couture (high-end tailor-made clothing) took lead in the fashion, and he led the fashion of young people by bringing miniskirts, vinyl suits, and go-go boots into fashion. He is still called the ‘Father of miniskirts,’ ‘Icon of fusionism,’ and ‘Founder of space look.’
Courrèges has been enjoying its second heyday since designer Nicolas Di Felice took office in 2020. It is loved for its design which perfectly inherits the legacy and tradition of the brand yet reinterpreted with a modern and sophisticated young sensibility. In particular, it is receiving an explosive response from MZ generation worldwide by operating the brand in a young and sensuous manner such as offering an attractive price for the luxury brand which gives higher access for young people, and opening a store in the Le Marias, Paris crowded with young people.
A key to the brand polarity also includes bold cutouts, cropped style, pure white color, and sustainable products made of recycled vinyl or eco-friendly materials. T-shirts and knitwear imprinted with the logo are one of the representative products, which are well-known for Korean and global celebrities’ favorites for the formal event and ordinary fashion item.
As Courrèges is recently enjoying its second heyday, Courrèges vintage products from the 1960s are actively traded in the secondhand market or wearing Courrèges products that grandmothers used to wear has become an emerging trend.
Shinsegae International plans to start its Korean business in earnest with the opening of the first Courrèges official store in Korea in September at Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam branch. In particular, as Courrèges is getting explosive popularity from the trendy young and rich generation, it will also enhance new and unique marketing experiences targeting them. It plans to make the store ‘Must-visit hot place’ by offering things to feel and enjoy the brand's DNA by all senses such as sight, taste, smell, and touch, not just a place to buy products.
An official from Shinsegae International said, "We will make Courrèges, the most popular brand of the time, the hottest brand in Korea through our brand management know-how," adding, "We plan to continue to discover overseas potential brands to build a robust brand portfolio."
