The Swiss Luxury Fashion House Akris Partners with Shinsegae
Akris Signs an Exclusive Distribution Agreement in Korea with Shinsegae International
Akris operates in 13 countries worldwide and has been present in Korea since 1999 through its subsidiary, Akris Korea. In the second half of 2025 a strategic change in Akris Korea will occur as a domestic business partnership with Shinsegae International has been confirmed. The new business will launch in Spring 2026, solidifying Akris's status as a global luxury brand.
Shinsegae International is positioned as a leading importer of luxury fashion brands by securing the domestic distribution rights for the Swiss fashion brand Akris, a house renowned for its high-end luxury products.
According to industry sources, Shinsegae International recently signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Akris and will begin full-scale operations next year. Akris established Akris Korea in 1999 and has operated directly in Korea ever since. However, Akris recently changed its strategy and decided to form a partnership with Shinsegae International, becoming the first local company to partner with Akris.
Shinsegae International's decades of success in bringing numerous luxury brands to Korea, as well as its unrivaled expertise in the luxury sector, were highly regarded. These factors led to the decision to launch a new venture.
Since its founding in 1996, Shinsegae International has imported fashion brands and created numerous success stories in Korea, including with Armani, Brunello Cucinelli, The Row, Herno, Chrome Hearts, and UGG. Shinsegae International plans to strengthen Akris's identity in the Korean market and raise its status as a high-end luxury brand.
A Shinsegae International representative said, "Securing the distribution rights for Akris in Korea has strengthened the competitiveness of our fashion import business. We plan to implement strategies that will raise awareness of Akris's status as a high-end brand in Korea."
Akris is a Swiss luxury fashion house founded in 1922 by Alice Kriemler-Schoch, and it continues to be owned and run by the third generation of her family. Akris presents its collections at Paris Fashion Week twice a year, attracting the attention of fashion professionals from around the world. It is particularly popular among women with purpose in the United States and has a solid foothold in Europe.
In Korea, Akris operates stores in the Shinsegae Department Store in Gangnam and Centum City, as well as in the Apgujeong Main Store and Mokdong Store of the Hyundai Department Store. Prices range from 7,000,000 to 10,000,000 won for coats, 1,500,000 to 2,000,000 won for knitwear, 3,800,000 to 4,000,000 won for dresses, and 5,000,000 to 8,000,000 won for jackets.
