Q.How TIC will develop its competency in SI, and what are its future plans?: SI unfolds a wide range of business that covers fashion, cosmetics, and lifestyle. We have the shortest history in the cosmetics area among the three. Starting from the takeover of VIDIVICI in 2012, we have broadened our PB business to owning YUNZAC, LOVIE, POIRET, SWISS PERFECTION, and JUST AS I AM. So, in the course of such broadening our presence, it enlightened us the importance of developing our own exclusive technologies, know-hows, concepts, formulations & resources, design, and what not, leading us to operate TIC in real earnest as of 2020(established in November, 2019 in practice).
Our mission here is pretty clear. We exist to provide customers who seek their own beauty, with differentiated, effective and safe 'solutions' so that they can lead a happy life. To fulfill our purpose, we pursue "small but strong, open-ended research center" by constantly working on innovations and research & developments. We aim to tirelessly grow and develop ourselves through inventing new cosmetic formulations and remedies with the strengthened internal competence, whereas finding out new cosmetic materials and effect mechanism research with the cooperation of external experts.
Q.What kind of relationship with the members of TIC do you pursue as a leader?: I think the leader should manage a team environment that empowers each of its members to show their true abilities, feel rewarding of their own research work, and also enjoy interacting with others. Research work is not only about an individual capability, but rather its more of a quality. And any of research qualities will not be resulted from a solitary work. The momentum that we need to push forward for new outcomes and better achievements can only be made out of mutual cooperation.
Note that your existing knowledge could be old. Only when you are willing to share your old knowledge with others, it proves its real worth and perhaps more. On the other side, a researcher is required to always work hard to accommodate new things, other opinions with an open-mind, and sometimes even a critical mindset ready for debates any time if needed. As for myself, I try to look back on me everytime in order to be the leader who takes the initiative so that I can effectively motivate all our research members in TIC to have the same attitude.
Q.Any professional hazard you have from working on cosmetics for almost 30 years?: If I get to see a new cosmetic product, I unknowingly first go to the ingredient list on the case and take stock of all the ingredients.

Q. I wonder if you have any know-how in remembering the details and specifics of the work TIC members proceeded with for long time.: I was obsessed with taking notes since schooldays. I wasn't good at writing out notes promptly so I tried to make a habit of going over my cursive notes and write them again. I actually did it to make up for my lack of remembering things clearly at once. But I try to be positive and consider it as my strong suit all the more because I can constantly recall past memories with the notes, and improve the bandwidth to organize such memories.
