S.I.VILLAGE Holds Online Exclusive Preview of 'Galleries Art Fair'

Shinsegae International's own digital platform, S.I.VILLAGE, announced that it will hold an online exclusive preview of 'Galleries Art Fair' from the 18th of this month to the 7th of next month.

Ahead of the Galleries Art Fair, which will be held at COEX on April 4th, it will selectively showcase 47 major exhibited works and also conduct pre-sales. It is the first time that S.I.VILLAGE has officially collaborated with an art fair to operate an online special exhibition hall.

Through the online exclusive preview of the Galleries Art Fair, which is the most historically significant art fair in Korea, they plan to provide customers with a new artistic experience. Launched in 1979 and celebrating its 42nd edition this year, the Galleries Art Fair is Korea's first art fair. It is held annually as the first major art fair of the year and is considered a barometer for predicting trends in the art market for that year. As the online preview will feature not only works by famous established artists but also works by emerging artists who have been gaining attention recently, it is expected to attract a diverse range of customers, from existing art collectors to novice collectors.

In addition to the exhibition and sale of works, S.I.VILLAGE has prepared various events for customers during this preview, including viewing guides and curation by renowned docents. It's a great opportunity for those who are unable to visit the art fair in person or for those who want to gain background knowledge about the works before attending the fair. The works to be unveiled through the online preview include 'Untitled'(1992) by Yoon Hyeong-geun, representing Korean monochrome, 'Untitled'(1978) by Kim Goo-rim, a pioneer of experimental art, and 'Scent of Autumn' (2023) by 'Yoon Byung-rak, a representative artist of Korean realism painting.

Additionally, visitors can explore the works of artists selected for the 5th edition of the emerging artist discovery program, ZOOM-IN. ZOOM-IN selects emerging artists under the age of 39 to exhibit their works and provides sponsorship along with prizes to the final three selected artists based on a combination of on-site voting by visitors and evaluation by reputable experts. Visitors can preview and purchase the works of these selected artists, who have surpassed approximately 570 fierce competitors, before the opening of the art fair.

S.I.VILLAGE has also organized various customer events alongside the preview exhibition. They will provide online curation sessions conducted by prominent docents Choi Ye-rim and Shim Seong-a, delivering in-depth analyses, characteristics, behind-the-scenes stories, and more about the key works. Additionally, online guides for art fair walk though and tips for collectors are provided to ensure that even new customers entering the world of art collecting can enjoy.

During the online preview period, customers purchasing products from S.I.VILLAGE will be eligible for a draw to win VIP tickets to the Galleries Art Fair. Shinsegae International stated, "Starting with the sale of original artworks in 2020, we have consistently strengthened our presence in the art-related field, and this year, we are hosting a digital art fair event." They added, "We will continue to explore and introduce content from various fields, strengthening our position as a premium digital platform."
